You can now find me over at - http://thevelvetepidemic.blogspot.co.uk/

There will be a fabulous mix of fashion, film, television and music. I run the blog alongside Joshua (my boyfriend) so there are often new posts and a lot more variety.

I really enjoyed posting on this blog back a couple years ago when I used it on a regular basis but my life is very far from those days and I feel I need something new now. I would absolutely love it if some of you followed and I do hope that we don't disappoint. Maybe I will see you over there :-)

Summer favourites. Morrissey included. Moaning included.

Clutch Bag ~ Dorothy Perkins Shoes ~ Zara Make Up Bag ~ Primark Perfume ~ Bronze Goddess Estee Lauder from The Perfume Shop
I only listed the items that you can buy at the moment in stores as the others are all easily attainable but they are either borrowed (the books) been owned for years (Morrissey has been in my life for a long time) or purchased in a small store that only exists in my joyless town!

Hello everyone! I am back from my holiday. I have been for a while actually. I haven’t posted as much as I wanted to post on this blog and haven’t done the posts I originally planned out for many reasons.  I won’t go into detail as I am a big hater of internet over sharing but these last few months have been a real struggle. Throwing myself into other things was certainly a distraction for a little bit of time but eventually facing the real problems had to happen. I will keep this blog going though as I feel it is something I must stick by. Above, I just thrown a few ‘essential summer’ type items that have been used for reading/wearing/listening/writing. Endless possibilities in my life over here!

I included two books by John Green and a large part of me absolutely despises Looking for Alaska (messed up teenage girl painted as a goddess when in real life she would get on everyone’s nerves. Maybe John Green was trying to distract us with her large breasts that are dragged up at every possible moment) and the other being The Fault In Our Stars which was heartbreaking and all but it just seems another desperate attempt at making fourteen year olds weep. It was certainly better than Looking for Alaska though. I will stick to Bukowski. My little depressing soundtrack for my summer reading has got to be Morrissey. My favourite famous person of all time. He is a genius in a way I can’t get my head around. I think everyone should listen to his words as he is someone that I owe a lot too. I am sure I became a much more caring person and someone that wanted more knowledge and was not ashamed of it due to this moping man and for that, I thank him. God bless any human that stopped me from becoming one of those girls that straightens their hair in Science!!!!!!

On to the fashion items. A pink, glittery clutch bag which is basically everything an item needs to be to catch my attention and make me fall in love. The shoes were picked up in Portugal in one of the many Zara stores located there. I have dreamt up these shoes many times and it was nice actually finding them. The last one is the little make up bag from Primark. Can I marry it? Would that be weird? We are in love. I stare at the adorable face of it every day. Make up bag, I think you are THE ONE. I guess the perfume would be in anothere item category, beauty type products. Problem. I only have a bloody perfume! One that every single blogger mentions five times a day. Let’s stick it in the section with the accessories. We won’t talk about the perfume anymore. Let us talk about the fans as I got them so they would match my pastel infused wardrobe. Now let’s stop as I don’t have anything else to say other than it is a fan. You wave it about to cool you down.

Now I shall mention my that I  also threw in my Nintendo DS as I wanted to start using it again. Can anyone recommend me any fabulous games? I like to leave questions for the end as if you took the time to read it then you are more likely to take some time and answer my very boring question. Please though, answer my question as I haven’t used the DS for years!

Happy Wednesday! xo

OOTD, polka dots and more Moz!

Hello everyone! It seems this blog is kind of back on track with posts and such after I left it alone for almost two years. I am really enjoying blogging again, especially all the outfit of the day posts that I get to do with my lovely French Bulldog, Moz. I think he secretly loves doing them too. I am off on holiday tomorrow (as I mentioned a million times before) so over the weekend there will be no posts.

Shoes - Topshop Socks - ASOS Dress - ASOS Bag - Vintage Scarf (tied around bag) - Camden Market Earrings - Camden Market Sunglasses - Camden Market (Customised by me.)

I decided to wear polka dots today after thinking about the A/W 2013 Miu Miu collection after laying my eyes on it yesterday. It has actually been playing on my mind for all the wrong reasons. I guess that means that it is a bit weird that I went and threw a bunch of polka dots but my mind works in mysterious ways. I think my dislike for it stems from the fact it reminds me of an outfit that I'd have worn when I was 14 years old. Sometimes a good thing. Usually a bad thing. Anyway I hope some of you enjoyed it!

Have a great weekend! Here are some awkward hugs and kisses from me and Moz xo

OOTD, planned posts and sad hand luggage feelings.

Happy Sunday Andy Murray tennis happiness day of sunny loveliness everyone!
I really need to sort out a decent camera at some point as the bad photo quality images going on to this poor blog make me feel a little bit sick. Most of my pictures end up so grainy that uploading them seems absolutely insane. I just haven't had (been able to save) the money! I have lined up a few DIY projects to distract myself from buying anything new over the next few weeks so I will definitely be sharing those whether they go well or not. At least you can all point and laugh at me if I end up ruining something that could have been good! I really need to do some product reviews as well due to having a huge queue of them. I have a little drawer that is in need of some space. The poor products cannot breathe in there!!!! Please do not report me.

Skirt - Asos Top - Charity shop Shoes - Topshop

Happy news, I am going on holiday on Thursday! Whilst I am away in Portugal I will do a daily write up on my time away and then share it all when I get home. We are going to a festival when we are there, so hopefully I can cram a few decent outfits into my hand luggage - I am scared! Other than the luggage issue, I am stupidly excited. I get to see Green Day which makes me really happy as I last saw them properly when I was 14 at a gig in Milton Keynes and hearing some of the songs will cause me to have a drunken, emotional breakdown!!!! What could be better than having an emotional, drunken breakdown all because of Green Day on holiday!?!?!?!?!?!?  Also I must return to a normal state and mention that I really wish I had been using this blog when I went away to LA and attended Coachella as it would have been nice to have it on here to look back on.

Josh made me use a prop and I didn't like it. My face shows that..
Another failed photo of 'let me look like I am doing something FUN'
(I really hope you guys can feel the sarcasm coming from me here.)

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! :-)

Summer Strawberry Cheesecake style Dip!

I thought today I would share something super easy to make that is going down really well in my house at the moment! It also pairs up pretty well with all the tennis that’s on the television too.. This cheesecake style dip takes about twenty minutes to make and tastes SO good with strawberries and apple slices. First, you will need:
2 cups of cream cheese
1 cup of whipping cream
4 tablespoons of brown sugar (although taste as you go, some may like it sweeter, some may not!)
1 cup off chopped strawberries
2 drops of vanilla flavouring
3/4 crushed digestive biscuits
white chocolate chips (just to sprinkle over the top, another thing you can decide)]

Start by prepping your fruit and chop your strawberries into quarters. I just used Sainsbury’s basic strawberries as they are only £1 for a punnet and once you have them mixed with all the fatty goods they don’t need to be the best. Save the better more expensive ones for dipping! Next get your cream cheese, throw in your strawberries, a bit of sugar and the vanilla flavouring and mix until smooth. I just used an electric whisk as I am lazy. Next whip the whipping cream and add the rest of the sugar. Whisk until thick. Do this in a separate bowl and then once you are done just fold it into the cream cheese. By now you are pretty much done! I put it into a heart dish and crumbled some digestive biscuits on the top, added a few more chopped strawberries and sprinkled on the chocolate chips. Perfect!

Summer Sequins, Sparkles & Sunglasses.

I thought I would get a post done this morning (almost 3am, what a lovely hour) as I don't want to be slacking on this blog. It is something I really enjoy, once I get going, so it would be a shame to leave it to go to waste again. My very kind boyfriend also sorted out a laptop that works for me to use but the keys are such a pain! I feel like I have to punch them to type. I honestly feel like it is giving my arms a major work out.. Anyway, back to the point of the post, I don't have much to put up as I haven't got round to taking any outfit of the day photos! I decided to show you all a few little obvious DIY ideas that I have been enjoying recently. It is such a fun and cheap way of owning items that you won't see everywhere else or creating something you dreamed up and won't be able to pick up in every day shops.
Some of my lovely materials I used for this items in this post. I clearly have the mind of an eight year old.
. So, my first item. I purchased these cat eye sunglasses in Camden some time earlier this year and after some haggling with the poor stall owner I finally walked away with a lovely but plain pair of sunglasses. Embellishment is everywhere these days. All the time. I could not be happier about this. I am the queen of tack. I just love it. I blame my mother She always had ornaments every where when I was a child and I used to think there is no way I will be like that but I was totally, totally wrong. I just can't do the classic, simple look and every thing to the way I style my clothing to my bedroom decor is OTT. Back to the glasses, these took about five minutes to do and I just used some gem tack glue to stick on these flat back pearl hearts. They have been lugged around in a suitcase to LA, in my bag for Coachella and then thrown around a bit and the gems are still all there. I do recommend always keeping a supply of back up gems just in case though!

Another little bit of DIY I have been going a little crazy with at the moment, is ring making! You can get some really nice charms if you hunt around and a pack of 100 ring bases can be found for as little as 99p on ebay so it is a great thing to make your own. Think of all the money you can save!!! Below I included a picture of one of my favourite - a french bulldog ring! I also spent an hour sticking gems on the pocket of this lilac shirt which lasted through my mothers washing skills but straight as I washed it, the gems were ALL OVER THE FLOOR. The pain I felt! I don't even want to go there...

I hope the post wasn't too much of a bore! I wasn't as organised with it as I have managed to be with my others. I should have a little haul type post coming up soon as over the last week I picked up a few bits which is a total miracle on my current budget.

Have a lovely week!

Mid-June Favourites.

I recently had a huge sort through my make up and beauty products. I changed up my storage and doing this was a great idea as I found a few products that hadn’t even been used! I am off to Optimus Alive festival in Portugal soon, so I am currently saving money which means no beauty products and no make up (massive lie, shh.) Here are my five current favourites. Enjoy!

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star™ Body Lotion 500ml

This stuff is heaven on earth. I hear birds singing and feel as if I am being showered with money when I use this. I don’t even think I am being OTT. I just love the scent - much more than any perfume! I feel like a lovely bundle of baked goodies when I walk around with it on. The product itself claims it has an ‘irresistible almond, oats and brown sugar scent’ which I would say is about right. It just smells biscuity in GOOD way. Not the horrid fake tan way (I don’t even think fake tan is biscuit like actually… What awful biscuits are you people eating????? Anyway, it makes me soft and smells perfect. Fabulous.

Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick - Portofino Coral

To start with… THE PACKAGING IS SO WONDERFUL, I WOULD BUY THE DAMN OVER PRICED THING FOR THE LOVELY GOLD TACK IT COMES IN. I have seen people moan about it (people with taste, let’s remember I haven’t got much of that) and I just want to throw it at them and lecture them on the wonders of tack. So. This lipstick. I really love it. At first I was like ‘hmm will I look even more mental with my pink hair, throwing this into the mix is a scary idea’ but actually, applied sparingly it is very subtle, forgiving and lasts for well over five hours - something most lipsticks never do. It also feels moisturising on the lips.
On to the sad news. It was discontinued. What was the point in that eh? Well let me tell you now, this lipstick will probably never go on my lips again as once something is discontinued, I don’t want to risk getting too serious with it. I hope it understands. I loved you until I wrote this bloody post and found out the truth.

The Fab Pore™ Hot Cloth Cleanser

When they tell you it melts away make up like all the companies tell us, THEY ARE NOT LYING! I almost cried with happiness when I first massaged this into my eyeliner stained face and found that the make up slid right off. I wanted to jump up and down and tell everyone how great this is. You just massage the product over your skin (I use eye make up remover first, then a baby wipe, then this) and leave it for sixty seconds. You press it off with a muslin cloth and you are done! I also haven’t felt well recently and the subtle lavender scent has been something I have come to enjoy. I wasn’t a fan of the smell at first but as I said, ill Stevie loves it.

L’oreal Infallible Foundation

I purchased this foundation in the week, as my mum had mentioned her friend always has wonderful skin and it turned out she wore this. I popped into Boots to grab one for her (as my mother never buys herself bits, she thinks about everyone else first!) and noticed that it was buy one get the second half price on all make up. I always enjoy trying new foundation as there is only one I have stuck by which is actually from the Barbara Daly range at Tesco - nothing beats it, I have sensitive skin and it has never given me breakouts or rashes. Amazing and miraculous! Anyway, back to this stuff! So far, so good. It feels lovely when you apply it. Kind of gel like. It doesn’t cake at all which I find rare with foundations that give a little more coverage, so well done to this product! I haven’t been using it long enough to go on about it but I am enjoying it for now and I hope the love continues.

Walter White Nail Transfers

I adore ebay for silly little bits and this.Breaking Bad babies have made my life. I LOVE Breaking Bad with all my heart and even though I hate Walt I think these are amazing. Who wants hearts and flowers when you can decorate your nails with a drug cooking maniac? If you are into nail art though ebay has a tonne of cool.transfers at great prices. You can’t beat it!

Have a good weekend! Stevie xo

A Little Bit Of Lucille...

Hello everyone! Lucille and Buster here! Okay, I hope some of you got my Arrested Development reference there and if you didn't then run and watch every single series and then thank me for it for the rest of your life. Lucille Bluth is definitely a style icon and a very under rated one at that! Anyway, another outfit of the day post today! I previously enjoyed doing make up and beauty related posts but I just don’t buy products like I used to. At the time I was training to become a make up artist and that side of things was my main interest but in the long run I have always preferred fashion.
Since the course ended I have done make up work and enjoyed it to some extent but my love for the industry was very short lived. I would feel like I wanted to style the models and lusted over beautiful clothing, ignoring the products that once excited me!

My future plans involve many creative paths that I tend to stay quiet about as I am always fairly private about the things I want in life. I just find the idea of someone knowing what you want and wondering ‘why is she not there!?’ shameful and depressing! I will say though that my ambition is back and I feel I am on the right track. Anyway, now on to the topic that actually matters to you all here - my outfit! Most of my clothing is found in charity shops but I always try and throw in accessories that are from the high street. I do find it quite hard as i try and steer clear of high street brands as much as possible. I just always feel like it hurts me when I buy anything at a ‘normal’ price as I am used to spending a maximum of £5 on an item!

Here, I decided to throw on some pastel shades as the weather has been much nicer over the last few days. My blouse and trousers are both charity shop buys and the shoes were my mums in the 90’s (it seems I have finally find a 90’s item that doesn’t leave me rolling my eyes and sighing.) They are actually from River Island which makes it even more amusing as I avoid that shop like the plague. The local going out spot in my area is like a River Island badly styled catwalk (meowww!) My earrings are from ASOS, the one place that I really do rely! I absolutely adore ASOS. My clutch bag is from Accessorize and was a last minute purchase when I was desperate. I like it but it was over priced, as their items always are. The metal on it also smells scary and wrong..
P.S - I had to leave out photos that included my face really as my hair looks like it was based upon a lego character style and I really don't fancy looking back at that in a years time whilst my hair grows, so in the world of blogging I will pretend it never happened.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone! Lots of love from me and miserable Moz! xo

Outfit of the day, with a little help from my dog..

I haven't done a post on here for a LONG time, so after time out buying more clothes, finally leaving England for a couple of trips (I have missed out for too long) and going to one of the best festivals ever - Coachella, I decided a blog post was due. It's just a nice and simple outfit of the day and nothing spectacular but it's a start. I hope to put up more and finally get back into this as I have really been meaning to :-)

As you can see my beautiful little french bulldog Moz decided to join in!
I think he was a little concerned and wondered what was actually happening!
I think the whole blogging thing should be pretty fun for me at the moment as I am trying not to buy any clothes as I could be moving out (ouch, miss you already shopping sprees!) and hopefully doing some blog posts and getting some inspiration from fellow bloggers will be a nice little distraction. Yeah right..!

Top - Amoeba records, Skirt - River Island, Socks - ASOS,
Shoes - ASOS, Earrings - Primark, Necklace - Unknown.
I guess I feel new to this, all over again, so I am going to leave it at that! Below I included a picture of me having a little high five with Moz once it was all over. He is such a wonderful dog and I think he is super smart. I know everyone goes on about their dog being smart but I swear he really is!

Also I must add, ideas for my next post are welcome and would be greatly appreciated. I do hope you all had a wonderful bank holiday weekend and this week is just as good!
